Superfood Amala For Overall Women Health & Wellbeing

According to Ayurveda, a woman’s health is directly related to her menstrual cycles. Regular menstrual cycle is not just meant for conception and pregnancy.
This process aids in detoxification of our bodily toxins and is highly regarded in Ayurveda for every woman to feel grounded, feminine, and most importantly, to get connected with her inner self during this time. Unfortunately for most women and especially in the western world, menstruation is considered to be a hindrance in day-to-day activities.
Amla also know as Amalia in Sanskrit is a popular fruit widely available in India and extensively used in Ayurveda for thousands and thousands of years. The literal translation of Amla is ‘sour’ but the deeper meaning and translation of Amalaki in Sanskrit is ‘immortality’! because of it’s powerful healing attributes.

How I Use Amla?

I personally use Amalaki powder on a daily basis during the summer season to pacify my pitta dosha and also use it regularly during my monthly cycles.
During our monthly cycle, it’s very important according to Ayurveda to keep the Apana Vata (the downward flow) in balance. This sub-dosha pretty much controls the menstrual flow and is located in the lower abdomen.
Amla or Amalaki is an excellent Ayurvedic herb to balance this Apana Vata which results in healthy and regular menstrual cycle. It strengthens the uterus and improves the reproductive health.
Another added bonus of including Amla in our daily diet is – it contains all the five of the six rasas (tastes) of Ayurveda except the salty taste. This aids in optimal digestion and metabolism resulting in Ojas! (balanced life energy). Optimal digestion results in optimal ojas which in turn builds strong immunity and strength.
Balanced life energy (Ojas) supports female health by making the skin lustrous, eyes glowing, mental equilibrium ( no mood swings), glowing complexion with an overall charismatic and warm personality

Why Should Women Consume Amla?
-Promotes strength and immunity against diseases
-One of the highest sources of Vitamin C and other important minerals (enhances glow and luster)
-Regulates Urinary Tract by being a natural diuretic
-Boosts cellular re-generation
-Aids in menstrual cramps
-Alleviates feeling of sadness
-Promotes regular bowel movement
-Eases constipation
-Tridoshic – balances body and mind
-Encourages weight loss and reduces bloating (by optimal digestion and elimination)
-Deeply detoxifies the tissues in the body
There are many ways to having this Amla powder in your daily diet. You can simply mix it with warm/hot water and drink it. You can also try one of my most popular smoothie using Amla, it’s called Blissful Nari Smoothie.
I will end my post with Sage Charaka’s saying “Amalaki is the best among rejuvenative herbs”.

10 Life-Changing Ways to Make Your Manicure Last Longer

1. Use a cotton swab to wipe down your nails with white vinegar before applying basecoat. This removes any product buildup or natural oils on your nail beds that could create a barrier between the polish. Once your nails dry, apply basecoat.
2. Don't soak nails before painting them.
Manicurists do this to soften cuticles, but it causes nails to retain water and expand. Once they're painted they'll shrink, meaning your polish will no longer fit your nails. So ask your manicurist to use cuticle oil instead.
3. File your nails into a shape that mirrors your cuticle's, which makes them less likely to break.
4. Avoid getting any polish on your cuticles, which lifts the paint from the nail and leads to chipping.
Don't cut your cuticles, but you can push them back using cuticle oil and an orange stick or a pusher toolto prevent paint from getting on them.
5. Use a sticky basecoat to make the polish last longer.
6. Apply two coats of basecoat to the tips of your nails.
Nail tips are more prone to chipping (see: typing, texting, etc.). Apply another layer of basecoat to the top half of your nails for extra polish resilience.
7. Instead of shaking your polish up and down, roll it between your hands to eradicate and prevent air bubbles.
If you paint air bubbles onto your nails, they'll chip faster.
8. Don't skip the "free edge" of your nails.
Run the basecoat, paint, and topcoat around the edge to ensure your entire nail is sealed.
9. Dry nails with cool air.
Hot air keep the polish from drying so use your blow dryer on its cool setting or a fan. Dipping fingertips in ice water for a minute or two also aids drying.
10. Reapply a layer of clear topcoat every two to three days to prevent chipping and enhance shine.

6 Reasons Why Yoga Is Better Than The Gym

Everything has its pros and cons in life. So, while I am not anti gym, I do think that yoga offers more than what a gym can on every level, not only physically, but mentally and spiritually as well.
People always ask, “what else I do” to “work out” other than yoga. The answer? Nothing! Yoga is everything my body needs to function at it’s absolute best. Here’s why.

1. Yoga Is Great Cardio

All you have to do is try a few sun salutations at a good, steady pace, matching your breath to your movement. You could also really “get moving” by trying Vinyasa, Ashtanga, or Power yoga.

2. Yoga Is Non Competitive

There is already enough competition at school, work and life in general.  While some people may thrive at trying to be the fastest in spin class or trying to run longer than the other person on the treadmill next to them, in yoga it doesn’t matter what anyone else is doing. There is no comparing or competing because there is only you.

3. Yoga Is Free

Yoga doesn’t have an upfront cost like a gym membership does.  All you need to practice is you. You can wear any clothes that allow you to move and you don’t need a yoga mat; a towel or blanket work just fine. If you want some inspiration, there are plenty of great, inexpensive yoga DVDs or free online yoga videos.

4. Yoga Is Kinder To The Body

This does not mean yoga is not intense. Yoga builds heat and works your muscles, but you’re doing only what your body allows you to do. Yoga also helps you stretch as you move through the postures and a good yoga practice builds on itself to prepare the body for the next position.

5. Yoga Reduces Stress

Many yoga classes include Savasana at the end of practice. This gives you a chance to clear your mind of daily stress. With practice, stressful situations can be dealt with more ease and overall stress levels decrease. The competitive nature of a gym along with the loud music and bright lights is more likely to increase your stress.

6. Yoga Helps You Stay Injury Free

In yoga, you learn to unite your body and mind. This allows you to move with ease and pay attention to how your body is feeling at all times, so you move in a way that feels good for you and not one that puts you in places your body doesn’t want to be. The result? An injury free, strong, healthy, whole you. Yoga slowly stretches muscles and opens the energy channels of the body. The increased flexibility keeps muscles and joints lubricated and healthy. Weights and treadmill can cause strain which leads to soreness and injuries.

How to Make Your Breasts Beautiful with Exercises

As centuries pass by, the standards of a beautiful bosom have changed for a number of times, today an ideal bust is considered the one with a shape that remains the same no matter what movements your body performs. Hence, a beautiful bosom is considered the one with high, elastic breasts, regardless of their size; the main point of a beautiful bust is its tone. The perfect sport to increase the tone and improve the appearance of your breasts is swimming, the second alternative, in case there is no way to practice this sport, is to see a fitness trainer or do some simple but effective exercises, which will help you strengthen the pectoral muscles by yourself.

Exercise 1 for Beautiful Breasts. Pressure

Applying pressure is the simplest exercise for your bust. Stand tall facing the wall, lean against it with your hands. Press against the wall as hard as you can, as if you want to move it, keep on pushing for 10 seconds. Relax, shake your hands. Do a set of 10 repetitions.

Exercise 2 for Beautiful Breasts. Elbows Touch

Stand tall, bend your hands slightly in the elbows, keep your hands on your hips. Try to touch your elbows one to the other behind your back, do not do it in jerks, but rather do it slowly, stretching the muscles for 10-15 seconds. Repeat 8 times.

Exercise 3 for Beautiful Breasts. Palms Pressing

The next exercise for beautiful breasts is as follows: join your palms in front of the chest and press them hard against each other for 3-5 seconds. Repeat 8-10 times.

Exercise 4 for Beautiful Breasts. “Dry” Breast-Stroke

If you can not go to a swimming pool, do this effective exercise to improve the tone of your breast. Stand tall, nestle up to the wall, squeeze the pectoral muscles and make movements, as if you are breast-stroke swimming. Do a hundred slow strokes, keep your pectoral muscles tense all the time.

Finishing Exercises for Beautiful Breasts with Posture Exercise

The best way to finish this set of exercises for your bust is to do an exercise which targets your posture. Take a thick book, put it on your head and walk around the house for a few minutes like that, trying to keep it on your crown. This will help you relax the muscles effectively and give them the needed working tone. If you can not walk like that, at least try standing with the book on your head. You can hold on to a chair or the wall, but do not lean against the wall.

Current Fashion Trends in Costume Jewelry and Accessories

Color Trends in Costume Jewelry

The fall fashion trends are ushering in another excellent season for costume jewelry and accessories. Rich colors and bold looks dominate the trend. Teal, amber and amethyst are the important colors with olivine and green used as neutrals. Topaz and peacock are also important and all indications are that rich color will continue into the spring season. Metals are seeing a return to gold, but silver is still stronger.

Bold Designs Dominate Fashion Jewelry

Fashion jewelry thrives when bold designs are in vogue and that is very much the case this season. The high fashion look is popular in necklaces, earrings, and bracelets with natural components contributing to the designs. Wood is continuing its second season of popularity with shell important even in the fall line. But the rising star in natural materials is gemstone, which provides the beauty of natural semiprecious stones to the costume jewelry designs. This will definitely continue and accelerate in the spring line. Also popular in neckwear are 48 inch and 60 inch ropes that are worn extended or doubled. Jet is strong in holiday jewelry and estate looks (antique designs) are becoming fashionable in bridal jewelry.

Traditional Costume Jewelry and Accessories

While costume jewelry in bold designs and rich colors forge the way for leading fashion, there is a larger market that shouldn’t be ignored in more traditional and classic looks. Theme jewelry in pendants, earrings, and charm bracelets has an appeal that goes beyond fashion alone because it identifies with what the wearer cares about. In addition, traditional rhinestone, bridal jewelry, evening bags, and formal gloves have a classic look with timeless appeal. There is a major market for these items that will always be present even as fashion changes.

Accessory Trends

Sequins and buttons are very big in all accessories, especially in handbags and evening bags. Beyond these, the looks of the larger bags introduced by leading designers are the trendy styles of the season. These are the bags the stars are carrying, which goes a long ways towards popularizing the styles. In evening bags, large sequins and buttons are very much in vogue, but traditional looks seem to be carrying the day.

Sunglasses are definitely big and bold with aviators the runaway favorite. Retro looks are also excellent and colored frames with matching lenses are very popular.

Hats and Headwear

In millinery, dress hats are an important part of the market, with ladies hats the dominant player. The looks are very traditional with a new element of pre-made bands allowing for the versatility of custom designs. Casual hats, however, account for the major share of the market and no design in 2005 is more important than the rollup cowboy hat. While the design is not popular in every region of the country, the sheer number of sales makes it the number one hat of the year. This rugged look that is typically American has risen to such popularity that it becomes an important fashion statement. After cowboy hats, the three most fashionable designs are wide brim floppy hats, ladies fedoras, and newsboys. The entertainment field has played a major roll in popularizing these designs and the fashion looks continue into the fall season with felt, leather, wool, and leatherette used as the material for the fall versions

10 ways to save on your birth control

Some brands of the Pill can cost as much as $50 a month. What if you could throw that $600 into something way more fun this year?

A recent survey of more than a thousand women by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists found that many women are doing just that: Of those who switched their birth-control method in the past year, 14 percent did so in order to save cash.

Here’s how to save your dough.

Go Generic
Ask your doctor or pharmacist for a generic version of the Pill, or do some research by looking at an online drugstore. Generic drugs are much cheaper than their brand-name counterparts, and they have the same rate of efficacy.

For example, the price of Ortho Tri-Cyclen is $41.99 on the Walgreens website, but its generic equivalents, TriNessa and Sprintec, cost only $27.99—nearly 30 percent less.

“Generic drugs have the same makeup as brand-name drugs,” says Nancy Cossler, M.D., an ob-gyn at University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. “They’re all the same, so there’s no reason not to go generic.”

Be Straight with Your Doctor
Talk to your doc about your financial constraints. She’ll make sure to prescribe you a pill that has a generic version or talk to you about other cost-effective methods. Also, your doctor might have free samples available, but be warned: According to Cossler, drug companies only manufacture samples of brand-name pills like Yaz to fool you into getting a prescription for the expensive stuff once you do sign on. Make sure that when your doctor writes you a script, it’s for the generic version.

Bargain Shop
You scour supermarkets for the cheapest shampoo and the best deal on laundry detergent, so why shouldn’t you look for a bargain when filling your prescription? Call around and research your pill online to price your drug at the big pharmacies. Bonus: Walgreens, Walmart, CVS, and most of the others have prescription savings clubs. You can get a 90-day supply of the drug for $12 on some of the plans.

“There could be a very large variation in that cost, especially if you’re not on insurance. The variation can be as much as $100 a month from pharmacy to pharmacy,” says Scott Chudnoff, M.D., a gynecologist at Montefiore Centennial Women’s Center in the Bronx, New York.

Stick with Condoms
If you’re really pinching pennies, talk to your doctor about going off the Pill and protecting yourself with condoms. “If you’re not in a serious relationship and you’re going to have sex fewer than 10 times a month, it might be cheapest to go with condoms,” says Chudnoff.

Plus, since the Pill doesn’t protect you from sexually transmitted infections, you’ll want to use a condom anyway if you’re not in a monogamous relationship.

Make a Long-Term Investment
It’s a lot of cash up front, but the IUD is considered the cheapest form of birth control because it lasts the longest. Mirena (the hormonal type of IUD) lasts three to five years, and the copper IUD can last up to 10 years.

“From a purely financial point of view, the IUD is the best option,” says Chudnoff. “You can get one in the $300 to $400 range—and you might even be able to get it cheaper from different family-planning clinics, like Planned Parenthood.”

If you figure the average pack of pills costs around $10 a month, by the third year of your IUD, the cost has already balanced out.

Go Mail Order
Ask if your company has a long-term prescription plan, which allows you to mail order a 90-day supply of the pill for a lower co-pay. It also cuts down on trips to the pharmacy.

Ask for a Three-Month Prescription
Instead of going to your pharmacist and paying for a refill every month, see if your doctor will write you a prescription for three months at a time. “If your doctor will give you a three-month prescription, you might get away with paying only a single co-pay for it,” says Chudnoff.

Get Your Pills from Planned Parenthood
Planned Parenthood’s prices may be cheaper than the pharmacy’s--and you may even be able to get birth control for free. Check with them or a local family-planning service in your area.

Use Pretax Dollars for Birth Control
If you know you’ll be spending a given amount every year on your pills, and you have the option available with your company, put aside that amount in a health savings account so it is paid with pretax money.

Easy Ways for Women to Lose Weight

Yo-yo dieting is bad for you; it can lower your good cholesterol levels, decrease the function of your immune system and slow your metabolism. The easiest way for women to lose weight and to keep the weight off is to eat healthy, exercise regularly and set realistic goals that are easy to live with. Here are some tips for losing weight easily.

Plyometrics
Plyometrics is a type of training that involves jumping, hopping and bounding. It uses the principals of interval training--short, high-intensity cardio exercise alternated with longer periods of low-intensity cardio--to help women lose weight. This type of training was developed by the Eastern Europeans in the 1970's to build greater strength for the Olympics. Their program was based on scientific evidence showing that if you stretch your muscles before contracting them, it helps enhance your muscles' power. This high-intensity cardio training helps you lose weight and strengthens your muscles.

Pyramid Weightlifting
Pyramid weightlifting involves using a light set of weights for a warm-up round, then progressively increasing the weight in each set thereafter. For example, perform 15 repetitions at 55 percent of your maximum weight for your first set. With only a brief pause, perform 10 repetitions at 60 percent of your maximum, then six to eight repetitions at 65 percent of your maximum. According to Jillian Michaels in "Making the Cut," pyramid lifting helps build muscle by breaking the muscle down in order to build it back up. The more muscle mass you have, the more calories your body can burn, meaning more lost weight.

Diet
Eating a healthy diet high in fruits and vegetables, which are packed with nutrients and fiber, helps decrease bloating and assist with weight loss. The American Council on Exercise recommends you eat two cups of fruit and two and a half cups of vegetables daily for a 2,000-calorie-a-day diet. You diet should also include lowfat food choices that are low in calories. Be consistent throughout the week rather than dieting strictly on certain days and then taking other days off. You should also try to reduce your portion sizes by about 10 to 15 percent.

High-Intensity Cardio Activity
According to the American Council on Exercise, higher-intensity exercise burns more calories than lower-intensity exercise. Additionally, it helps to increase your caloric deficit and keeps your metabolism elevated even after you are finished working out. You can combine this with interval training, which alternates short bursts of activity with intense bursts of activity to help your body burn more calories.

Teenage Skin Care - Make a Clean Start

Some teenagers are so active, they don't have the time to even consider their skin. Factor in hormonal changes, and you have a breeding ground for a variety of different skin problems. The good news? With a proper and simple routine, a couple of changes (avoiding bad habits), teenagers can achieve clear and radiant skin.

Firstly, let's consider some quick and dirty tricks teens can incorporate into their daily lives. Some of the most simple changes can make all the difference.

Always wash your hands before cleaning (or touching) your face. Our hands come into contact with an awful lot during the day. The dirt that builds up on our hands can lead to clogged pores, and as a result cause breakouts. Washing your face with dirty hands can be absolutely counterproductive.

Check the cleanliness of everything that touches your face. Peaked caps and mobile phones are regular culprits. Be particularly cautious with any areas of the face where breakouts are common. Could you be touching those areas with grubby objects throughout the day? Take care to check that your skincare lotions or makeup don't contain ingredients that are known to restrict pores. Ingredients to avoid include:- lanolin, mineral oil, SD alcohol, fragrances and colour.

And eat healthily. Many experts think there is a correlation between your diet and skin. When we eat unhealthy foods, our skin tends to show it in the region between our foreheads, as well as on the chin. Wearing a quality SPF15 every day can really help. Of course, this is good advice for all ages, but teens should especially wear a moisturiser that has a full-spectrum sunscreen. The suns rays break down our collagen and elastin, which can lead to sun spots. These results don't tend to surface until years later, so an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

The most beneficial way to optimise your skin health in the future is to start protecting it during the younger years. For instance, remove makeup every night. Most young women are guilty of not doing this in their teenage years, but sleeping in makeup is just not good. Especially, if you put up with an oily complexion. Congestion can build up in your pores and cause breakouts.

Using too many drying products is also likely to cause disappointing results. When the skin is oily, most teenagers tend to buy face wash, moisturisers and spot treatments that promise to remove oiliness. At first, you may see some results, but in the long run, the oil glands will begin to over accommodate for the lack of oil by producing even more oil than in the first place! Everything starts with good intentions, initially teenagers say they love drying skincare regimens. But after a while, they suddenly cease to be effective. Any creams with SD Alcohol are unquestionably part of the 'drying out' category.

Avoiding no, no's, such as using plain soap on the face. It is alkaline, and our skin is acidic. Meaning that it can make skin feel tight, dry and itchy. Taking hot showers is another tactic to be avoided. Whilst tempting, the heat can actually draw moisture out of the skin. This can cause your skin to either produce surplus oil (or look dry and flaky). We're sure that everyone can recollect being told not to pick spots, but picking really isn't a good idea. Infected and angered spots spread infection to other areas of the face when picked. Instead, try applying products containing Sulfur or Salicylic Acid to problem areas, just as you feel them starting. So, how do you develop a good skincare regimen in your teens? The answer is keep it simple but effective.

Choose a high quality cleanser. Dermalogica Clean Start is recommended, as it includes all of the ingredients necessary for a total regimen. For instance, a foaming wash containing salicylic acid, which reaches deep into pores to help exhaustively clean the skin.

For active teenagers, ensure any routine includes the body. Don't over exfoliate, usually 3 times a week is good enough. Excess scrubbing can lead to any infection spreading across the surface of the skin. You may consider using a leave-on exfoliant, containing salicylic acid. This can clean up the pores and cut through oil. When the pores are clear, breakouts are much less likely to occur. Treat breakouts as and when they take place.

Choose a spot treatment that is well regarded and has proven results. Some use sulfur to dry out infected areas, and some contain Benzoyl Peroxide to get rid of bacteria. You should apply as soon as you suspect a breakout forming. One common myth is that moisturising restricts pores. There are moisturisers available that will hold oil on the surface of the skin at bay and looking matte. The same applies with SPF protectors and sunblocks.

With the best will in the world any campaign to keep skin healthy can be met with the odd congestion or breakout. Utilising quality products and staying up to date with professional advice will go a long way to saving your skin in optimum health.

The Agony of Back Pain

We don’t often think of the chiropractor until some part of our body isn’t functioning as it should, most often our back. But what about chiropractic care for the well individual?

Is it a benefit to the well person, to visit a chiropractor when really nothing is wrong?

You bet it’s a benefit and here’s why.

The very nature of chiropractic care is the belief in the body’s own healing properties. Quite often, we can have small problems in one area of our body, and not even realize it until the effect is felt in a much larger way, somewhere else.

The practice of chiropractic care focuses on the relationship between your spine and your nervous system. The spine is the structure, and the nervous system is the function. Chiropractic believes these two systems work in unison to keep and then restore your body’s health.

The word “chiropractic” is taken from Greek, and means “done by hand”. This is exactly how chiropractic care works. The chiropractor uses his or her hands to manipulate your body, and help it to heal itself. It is the branch of the health sciences which focuses on the neuro-musculoskeletal system. That’s a very big word to simply say how your spine and nervous system work together. The spine is the highway for your central nervous system; if the highway is blocked or traffic is jammed, they are usually able healers. Many cultures, the Egyptians, the Greeks, the Chinese, and even the Africans have used some form of chiropractic care for hundreds of years.

Why has it taken so long for chiropractic care to receive its proper recognition in western medicine? Because by its very nature, it creates a divide between traditional, western philosophies and practices and what the chiropractor practices. In modern, western medicine, prescription drugs play a huge role in our healing process. To circumvent all those years of development, and investment on the part of the drug companies, is like climbing a rock cliff. It has taken many years, much evidence, and the demand of the general public to finally make progress towards the implementation chiropractic medicine as a realistic form of healing.

Chiropractic care in the western civilizations however has experienced many hurdles on its way to becoming one of best forms of back care and preventive medicine available today. To date, much research has been done and much material published on the benefits and cost-effective nature of chiropractic treatment. The number of Americans who seek chiropractic care has more than tripled in the last ten years, and continues to grow each year. It is a known fact, if you’ve ever visited the chiropractor, the philosophy works, your body feels better, it heals better, and you aren’t cut, drugged, and off from work for 6 weeks to recuperate. It is interesting to note here, that chiropractors are still classified as holistic healers. In other words, they believe in the whole body approach to healing. So do the acupuncturists, and the herbal healers. It would seem to me, that traditional medicine as had a lot of catching up to do, and they thought they were in the lead!

Gentle excising and easy stretching and go a long way to alleviating back troubles, and even preventing problems in the future.

Weight Loss after the Pregnancy

Rebecca Romijn (36) claim to have lower body weight was 27.2 kg since the birth her twin daughter, Dolly and Charlie, four months ago. This is done without the exercise. According to the stars of Ugly Betty, her weight loss secret is out. “It’s like we have to eat 5000 calories a day. If not, we can not provide enough food for them (children). Thus, the process is also fun,” the wife of Jerry O’Connell say this.

Rebecca felt even in the first three weeks she has lost 16 kg without doing anything. “I can not too many sports because my twin children. It is not possible to return to the training schedule as before,” she added. However, she realized that she can not hope to return to the form of the body first. “There is still excess weight that must be removed.”

Rebecca how this can be effective for all new mothers who give birth? We know not all women are given the ability to trim back quickly after the birth. Basically, the weight will go down after birth, but not all. During pregnancy, body weight generally increased between 11 and 16 kg. After birth, the amount of body weight down around 5-7 kg. So, there is still excess weight is behind.

Breastfeeding is to be a good way to accelerate the decrease in body weight. It is evident that provide breastfeeding issue certain hormones in the body for the first 12 months after the birth to help the uterus return to form before the pregnancy. When breastfeeding, everything we eat will be processed into breast milk and the baby will take food from you.

In addition to breastfeeding, there is no other way to reduce body weight except diet and sports. However, we must ensure that this is done both in a manner that is healthy and safe. You can begin exercise 40 days after birth. Of course, select the sports that are not too heavy. These are any tips of weight loss after pregnancy:

1. Lay down in position with your back flat and the second knee buckling. Keep the foot flat on the floor (or bed) and knee meetings.
2. Slowly, move the knee bend to the right thigh right up to touch the outside floor. Make sure the top of the body (stomach and chest) remains straight upwards.

Healthy Eating Habits

With skimpy swimsuits and trips to the beach in mind, toning various body parts and dropping a few pounds in time for summer has become a priority for many. Coupled with regular cardiovascular exercise, healthy eating habits can severely impact ones weight as well as ones overall body image.

When it comes to shaping up and slimming down, several factors impact a persons body and general healthiness. Different diets and eating routines work for different people. The following dos should put a positive spin on helping those who wish to revamp their eating habits in the hopes of transforming their bodies for the better.

DO eat well-balanced meals throughout the day, kick starting your metabolism with breakfast as often as possible.

DO eat several helpings of salad, fruits and vegetables throughout the day. Recommended amount is five servings of fruit and vegetables each day.

DO drink lots of water. Strive for at least eight glasses a day, but drink as much as you are able. Your body will eventually crave the water, which often makes you less hungry for snacks throughout the day while also flushing toxins from your body.

DO avoid eating simply because you are bored. Popping candy, cookies and other sweets into your mouth merely to pass the time is not conducive to modifying and maintaining a healthy body image.

DO sit down; enjoy your food and CHEW! Avoid scarfing down your lunch in the car as you drive. Rushing meals and trying to get too many other things done while eating may prevent the food from digesting properly. Take the time to enjoy a leisurely meal without constantly trying to do something else.

DO reduce your intake of sugars and fats if you find yourself eating junk food all day.

DO avoid grocery shopping on an empty stomach. Almost inevitably, those shopping with hunger pangs pushing them along may be apt to throw a few more goodies in the cart than if shopping after a meal.

DO eat when you are hungry. Try to substitute healthier snacks, like vegetable sticks, for salty or sweet snacks like chips and cookies.

DO eat foods that are high in fiber. This will help to keep the snacking urges from breaking through as often.

DO be realistic about your body image goals. Do not expect overnight results. Work to achieve your goals but do treat yourself every once in a while!

DO stop eating when you are full. Many people try to force themselves to clean their plates completely in order to be polite or to get their moneys worth.

DO exercise at least twice a week, whether by jogging, walking or doing a cardio workout. Combining healthier eating habits with cardiovascular exercise is a surefire way to lead a healthier life.

To improve your body image and the way you feel about yourself, monitor your snacking and do your best to follow a disciplined eating routine. Eat balanced meals, exercise and maintain a positive outlook and youll be well on your way to a healthier body, mind and soul.

Right Way To Wash Your Hair

Most of us think we have this all down pat, but for all we know, we might be wrong. After all, we have been washing our hair all our lives. How could we go wrong with something like washing our hair? However, we might be washing our hair the wrong way and contribute to its damage without actually knowing it.

What we should remember about our hair is that the individual strands of our hair, no matter how thick or strong it looks, is actually very delicate. So we cannot just tug and pull at it, or else it would break. We would not want to have hair breakage, would we?

So, what is the right way of washing the hair?
The first thing you should do is to comb the tangles out of the hair before you wet it so the hair would wash easily and the tangles would not worsen. And then, wet your hair thoroughly under the shower. You can use either warm or cold water if you like, but for best results, you can wet your hair with warm water to open the scale-like cuticles of the hair and wash all the oil and dirt off. And then, you can rinse your hair with cold water afterwards to close the cuticles and add to the shine of your hair.

Rinse your hair under the shower to rid it of the leave-on conditioner and styling aids you have used previously, using gentle strokes of your fingertips. Then, pour a dollop of shampoo in the palm of your hand. Rub your hands together, and then apply the shampoo to your scalp. Take note that you should put the shampoo on your scalp and not at the ends of your hair, as the shampoo would dry your hair's ends and cause it to weaken and split. Also, do not mix your hair all over your head as you shampoo because it will get all tangled up. After this, rinse the shampoo off.

More often than not, we need to shampoo our hair for a second time. The purpose of the first shampoo is to clean the oil and dirt off; the second shampoo is supposed to let the shampoo treat our hair. So, repeat the process, but let the shampoo sit on for around a couple of minutes. Rinse the hair completely after this.

To get the excess water off your hair, just squeeze the water out. Do not pull or tug at the hair because the hair is at its most delicate when it is soaked. When the excess water is out, apply a dollop of conditioner - mane event - and apply it along the hairline, the nape and the ends of the hair. Pile your hair then inside a shower cap and let the conditioner stay there for around ten minutes. And then, rinse it off completely.

The process described here does seem tedious and time-consuming. But remember, having great hair takes time and effort. And it is definitely worth it for a picture perfect hair.
