Almond Oil For Beauty and Health Care

Almond is a native of the countries bordering the Mediterranean Sea. There are two types of almonds – sweet almond and bitter almond. Oil extracted from both varieties of almonds can be used for topical application. However, only sweet almond oil could be taken internally.

Skin care
Almond oil could be used as a natural skin moisturizer. In aromatherapy, almond oil is used as carrier oil. Pure herbal oils when applied directly on the skin, causes burn and irritation. To prevent skin irritation, essential oils are blended with carrier oils. The vitamin E rich almond oil nourishes the skin cells and stimulates growth of new cells. It soothes irritated skin and improves complexion. Frequent use of almond oil could delay appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, restoring the youthful appearance of the skin. You can even use almond oil as under eye cream for reducing the dark circles.

Almond oil could be used as hair oil. It moisturize dry and damaged hair, making frizzy hair masses soft and manageable. Nutrients present in almond oil could provide nutrition to the hair follicles, promoting hair growth.




Health care
Sweet almond oil is prescribed in traditional medicines for reducing total cholesterol level. In Ayurveda, almond oil is recommended for strengthening the nervous system and for improving cognitive skills. It could even strengthen the immune system.
